An effective Land Use advocate must have an understanding of the law, the land and the local decision-makers. Because Bryant, Lovlien & Jarvis has been advising developers and landowners since 1915, we have deep ties to the community and effective relationships with the local government decision-makers. We assist clients in all phases of the development process and have a deep understanding of how to navigate the often complex and sometimes controversial aspects of land use. We have expertise in both urban development and rural development on farm and forest lands. Our legal services include pre-development due diligence; partitions and subdivisions, site planning including conditional uses, variances and design review; zone changes and comprehensive plan amendments; annexations and urban growth boundary expansions; destination resort development; and mixed-use developments focusing on smart growth principles and sustainability. We assist our clients throughout the entire development process, including due diligence, administrative review, local hearings in front of a hearings officer, planning commission or city council/county commission, and, if necessary, through appeals to the Land Use Court of Appeals and appellate courts.
