BLJ Law Bend Oregon

Professional Experience

Melinda Thomas focuses her law practice on family law, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, complex property division and modifications.  Melinda also represents school law clients, including Bend-La Pine Schools.

Melinda graduated from the University of Kansas Law School in 1993, and worked for the Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Washington in Seattle.  She then took 13 years off to raise her three children.  Melinda resumed her law practice as a civil litigator in 2005 in Bend, becoming a partner in a small boutique law firm and then running her own firm, Thomas Law, LLC.  Melinda joined Bryant, Lovlien & Jarvis in 2008, where she is now a shareholder.

Melinda transitioned from litigation into family law because she enjoys serving her clients on a personal level.  Her courtroom experience benefits her family law clients when their cases head to hearings or trial.  She prides herself on her reputation for professionalism among the family law bar and local judges.

In her personal time, Melinda and her husband Robb Thomas are die-hard Beaver fans – although they do enjoy following the University of Oregon track and field program. They also enjoy cheering on their kids (Cole, Alexa, and Brandon) at various sporting events. Melinda loves to cook, garden, and hike the many Central Oregon trails.
