PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Melissa Lande advises individuals and families throughout Central Oregon on estate planning, trust administration, and probate, helping clients develop estate plans tailored to their particular circumstances, goals, and family dynamics.
Her clients include individuals, couples, and families seeking thoughtful guidance in planning for the management and transfer of assets during life and at death.
Melissa takes a practical, client-centered approach to planning, helping families think through complex decisions and develop plans that reflect their values, priorities, and long-term objectives. She believes effective estate planning begins with understanding each client’s unique personal and financial circumstances.
Melissa prepares wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other essential estate planning documents and works closely with clients to evaluate planning options and develop strategies designed to protect assets, provide for loved ones, and minimize unnecessary tax consequences. She also assists clients in considering the potential impact of state and federal tax laws when developing long-term estate planning strategies.
Her work frequently involves planning strategies designed to preserve family assets and facilitate the efficient transfer of wealth across generations. She also assists clients in navigating complex family and financial considerations, including blended families and multigenerational planning. In addition to estate planning, Melissa advises clients and fiduciaries in trust administration and probate matters, helping them navigate the legal and financial responsibilities that arise following the death of a loved one.
Melissa joined Bryant Lovlien & Jarvis in 1996. Earlier in her career, she served as a Deputy District Attorney for Deschutes County from 1991 to 1996, prosecuting sexual abuse and other serious criminal cases. She has practiced law in Central Oregon for more than three decades.
